Rampton High Secure Hospital
The Rampton High Secure Hospital project as a whole was very exciting for us as a company as we continue to excel within the Mental Health sector and ever evolve our experiences and knowledge leading to some very exciting design ideas and manufacture.
We commenced on site working with Balfour Beatty to undertake roof strengthening works. This saw us working within the roof space above C & D blocks, introducing numerous specially designed and manufactured steel brackets installed to ensure the roof structure was securely fixed to the main building construction. This allowed the client to proceed with a light weight roof covering.
Within the main wards themselves, we supplied and installed all doorsets which included fire rated, acoustic rated, x-ray suitable and high spec seclusion doorsets. Doorsets would include steel interlays to ensure sufficient robustness and would also house aspects such as pill hatches etc.
A very strong sense of anti-ligature requirements were necessary at Rampton High Secure Hospital, which saw all ironmongery being suitable for the environment, along with suitable lock-back door frames in key areas such as seclusion areas etc. STJ manufactured our very own anti-ligature architrave and skirting which installed with plinth blocks ensured full safety was adhered to in all elements.
A number of internal anti-attack glazed screens were manufactured and installed, including pass through hatches. These screens were manufactured with highly dense hardwood timbers and modified toughened glass.
Other works on this site included manufacture and installation of bespoke fire fighting equipment encasements, privacy application to certain glass items, door and frame protection items which prolong the life of key location doors and frames.
We were extremely proud of our works on the Rampton project, our 4th major project with the Nottinghamshire NHS Trust.
