Bassetlaw District General Hospital

This project at Bassetlaw District General Hospital first saw STJ employed directly by the NHS Trust, managing a fire upgrade package of works to the main hospital lift and stair lobby over the three floors, changing the areas from a 30 minute to a 60 minute compartmentation. (Phase 1)

We were responsible for the following packages:

• FD60s Fire Doorsets.
• 60/60 glazing protection.
• Wall upgrades including studding and plastering.
• Electrical.
• Floor coverings.
• Decoration.
• Above ceiling fire stopping.

The new doorsets have various door and frame protection items including:

• PVC Door Edge Guards.
• Aluminium Door Edge Guards.
• PVC Face Protection.
• Stainless Steel floor mounted Bollards.

PVC items were colour co-ordinated to each floor and area of the hospital.

Following the successful upgrade works to Phase 1, we were employed again by the client directly as Principal Contractor to manage the package of works to Phase 2. This involved the same works detailed above but this time working along the main hospital street of Bassetlaw District General Hospital by the Accident & Emergency Department. It was whilst undertaking Phase 2 works that the Coronavirus pandemic broke out. We continued our works to ensure the hospital was safe and protected as intended against fire. During Phase 2 works, we also replaced a key fire door in ITU and to a staff kitchen area, again all FD60s doorsets.
